Portrait of Natasha Okonkwo

Natasha Okonkwo

Data Analyst & Biostatistics Researcher

Natasha Okonkwo grew up in Atlanta in a household where her mother, a registered nurse, brought home data problems the same way other parents brought home paperwork. Patient outcome summaries, medication dosage calculations, shift scheduling numbers. Natasha was the one who sat at the kitchen table helping make sense of them, not because anyone asked her to, but because she found the patterns genuinely interesting.

She studied Statistics and Data Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 2015. Her undergraduate thesis examined predictive modelling accuracy in public health intervention programmes across urban communities in the southeastern United States, work that required her to spend as much time explaining statistical findings to non-statisticians as it did running the actual analysis. That communication skill, translating numbers into conclusions that non-technical people could understand and act on, became the thread that ran through everything she did after graduation. She went on to complete a Master's in Biostatistics at Emory University in 2017, one of the leading public health research institutions in the country, where her dissertation focused on survival analysis methods applied to longitudinal clinical trial data.

After graduating, Natasha spent six years working as a data analyst for a healthcare research organisation in Atlanta, building statistical models, running A/B tests on intervention programmes, and presenting findings to medical teams who needed clear answers rather than probability distributions. She developed a reputation for being the person in the room who could take a complicated statistical result and explain it in two sentences without losing the accuracy. At Bro Calculator, she writes and reviews all tools in the Statistics and Math categories, applying the same standard she held herself to in research: every number on the page has to be correct, and every explanation has to make sense to someone who is not a statistician.
